E.G.O. capillary thermostats are fitted across European commercial kitchens — ovens, fryers, bratt pans and combi ovens — and when one fails, the replacement is found by part number, not by description. This page maps the E.G.O. numbers our customers send us most often — the 55-series single-pole and three-pole controls and the 55.32 / 56.10 safety limiters — to their verified V.Crown equivalents, and sets out the checks that make a cross-reference safe.
How to read the original part number
An E.G.O. number reads as series, variant, version — 55.13069.500 is a 55.13 control, 56.10534.510 a 56.10 limiter. The series tells you the function: 55.13, 55.17, 55.18 and 55.19 are single-pole adjustable controls; 55.34 is a three-pole control for three-phase equipment; 55.32 and 56.10 are fixed-trip safety limiters. The digits after the series encode the variant — temperature range, probe and capillary length — so they are not a length you can read off the number: always confirm range, probe size and capillary length from the rating label or the dealer listing, then verify against the tables.
55.13 / 55.17 / 55.18 / 55.19 — single-pole control thermostats
These are adjustable liquid-filled capillary controls, 16A class, with a D-shaft (Ø6×4.6mm, 23mm long, 270° rotation) on the front panel. Every range below sits inside the AG16-K envelope, so the mapping is by range and poles, not by the variant digits — the capillary and bulb are made to the original’s dimensions.

The AG16-K capillary thermostat is built to the same envelope — 50–400°C, 16A/20A at 110V/250V, SPST/SPDT contacts, automatic reset, 100,000-cycle mechanical life — with the capillary and bulb made to the original’s dimensions and the shaft to match the existing knob. The AG16-K heads the same control family as the compact AGO series.
55.34 — three-pole control thermostats
The 55.34 series switches three phases through one shaft — the control for three-phase fryers, bratt pans and deck ovens. All four numbers below share the 50–320°C range and 3NO 16A switching; they differ only in probe and capillary variant.
| Original part | Original specification | V.Crown equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| E.G.O. 55.34052.819 | Control · 50–320°C · 3-pole 3NO · 16A · probe Ø3.1×226mm | AG32-3K |
| E.G.O. 55.34062.807 | Control · 50–320°C · 3-pole 3NO · 16A · probe Ø3.1×226mm | AG32-3K |
| E.G.O. 55.34062.815 | Control · 50–320°C · 3-pole 3NO · 16A · probe Ø3.1×226mm | AG32-3K |
| E.G.O. 55.34064.030 | Control · 50–320°C · 3-pole 3NO · 16A · probe Ø3.1×226mm | AG32-3K |
The AG32-3K three-pole control thermostat switches the same three-phase load — 3-pole, 16A/32A/50A at 110V/250V/400V, 50–350°C — with the range, capillary and bulb made to the original’s specification. It is TÜV Rheinland certified (certificate R50242995).
55.32 / 56.10 — safety limiters (manual reset)
These are fixed-trip safety devices: they do nothing until the control fails, then cut the circuit and stay open until a technician resets them by hand. The trip point is a property of the part number — and on the V.Crown side it is factory-set to the original’s value, so the number you send us is the trip point we build.
| Original part | Original specification | V.Crown equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| E.G.O. 56.10534.510 | Manual reset · fixed 160°C trip · 1-pole · 16A/250V · probe Ø6×61mm · capillary 1460mm | AG16-S (trip point to order) |
| E.G.O. 55.32559.809 | Manual reset · fixed 270°C trip · 3-pole · 10A/400V · probe Ø6×70mm · capillary 2040mm | AG32-3S |
| E.G.O. 55.32545.800 | Manual reset · fixed 257°C trip · 3-pole · 20A/380V · probe Ø4×120mm · capillary 1750mm | AG32-3S |
The AG16-S manual-reset safety limiter covers the single-pole numbers — 16A/20A at 110V/250V, manual reset, standard trip points 380/400/430°C with other trip points factory-set to order. The three-pole numbers map to the AG32-3S (3-pole, manual reset, trip up to 400°C). Both are TÜV certified; never substitute a manual-reset limiter for an automatic-reset one to make a cross-reference fit.
Outside the scope of these tables
E.G.O. also makes electronic controls, energy regulators and hotplate controls, gas valves and the older 51.x series — and safety thermostats with automatic reset, for example the 2-pole 55.32542.833 — none of which have a mechanical V.Crown equivalent in the tables above, and the 55.10 series numbers are not listed here either. Send us the number and we confirm the match in writing; a part outside these tables is not a failed match, it is an unconfirmed one.

The five checks before you order
- Function and reset type — a control is adjustable and cycles; a limiter is fixed-trip and manual-reset. On limiters, manual reset and automatic reset are different safety behaviours, not options.
- Range or trip point — the original’s range must sit inside the equivalent’s range (AG16-K 50–400°C; AG32-3K 50–350°C). For limiters the trip point is factory-set to the original’s value — a near-enough temperature is not a match.
- Poles and current — single-pole 16A controls and three-pole controls switch different loads. Check the pole count and the switching current before ordering (AG32-3K: 16A/32A/50A).
- Capillary length and probe — read the capillary length and probe size from the rating label — the E.G.O. number does not encode them. Too short will not reach the well; the probe must seat correctly in the existing thermowell.
- Shaft and mounting — the E.G.O. controls use a Ø6×4.6mm D-shaft, 23mm long, with 270° rotation. The replacement must fit the same panel cut-out and take the same knob.
Send us the part number you are replacing — or a photo of its rating label — and we run all five checks in writing before quoting, so the equivalent arrives as a fit, not a project.
Certification: ask for numbers, then verify them
The AG32-3K and AG32-3S are covered by TÜV Rheinland certificates R50242995 (AG32-K) and R50242493 (AG32-S limiters), verifiable on Certipedia and listed on our certifications page; the AG16-S is TÜV certified. The AG16-K’s approvals are confirmed for the exact model before ordering. When an alternative supplier quotes a safety device, ask for the file number — not a logo — and check it before the part goes into certified equipment.
Samples and trial orders
Free samples of the AG16-K and the AG16-S are available for bench testing — you only cover the courier, and the freight is credited against your first order. Trial orders start from 200 pcs, with models mixed in one shipment, and mechanical customization (range, trip point, capillary length, bulb, dial printing) is developed free of charge. Send us the E.G.O. number you currently buy and we will map it.
