IMIT Control System of Castelletto Ticino, Italy, has built thermostats since 1917, and its TR2 capillary controls and LS1 / LS3 safety limiters sit in ovens, fryers, dishwashers and boilers across Europe. This page maps the IMIT numbers our customers send us most often to their verified V.Crown equivalents, and sets out the checks that make a cross-reference safe.

How to read the original part number
IMIT capillary parts carry a six-digit code — 540020 or 541510, for example — and the range, bulb and capillary are properties of that code, so read them from the rating label or the manufacturer catalogue rather than assuming them from the series. TR2 is the single-pole adjustable control family; LS1 is the manual-reset safety limiter family and LS3 its automatic-reset counterpart. TR3 also appears in dealer and equipment-maker listings — the TR39322 below is one such verified part — but always confirm the code from the rating label, because dealer listings sometimes carry the series name without the IMIT code.
TR2 — single-pole control thermostats
These are adjustable liquid-filled capillary controls, 16A class, for ovens, fryers and grills. Every verified variant below sits inside the AG16-K envelope, so the mapping is by function and range, with the capillary and bulb made to the original’s dimensions.

| Original part | Original specification | V.Crown equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| IMIT TR2 540020 | Control · adjustable 50–300°C · 1-pole changeover · 16(6)A/250V~ · bulb Ø3.5×195mm · capillary 1000mm | AG16-K |
| IMIT TR2 540140 | Control · adjustable 70–210°C · 1-pole · 16(6)A/250V~ · bulb Ø5×125mm · capillary 1000mm | AG16-K |
| IMIT TR3 TR39322 | Control · adjustable 76–300°C · 1-pole · 16A/250V · bulb Ø3×195mm · capillary 1030mm insulated · D-shaft Ø6×4.6mm | AG16-K |
The AG16-K capillary thermostat is built to the same envelope — 50–400°C, 16A/20A at 110V/250V, SPST/SPDT contacts, automatic reset, 100,000-cycle mechanical life — with the capillary and bulb made to the original’s dimensions and the shaft to match the existing knob. TR2 variants whose range starts below 50°C — for example the 0–120°C and 0–195°C codes — are not listed here: the AG16-K starts at 50°C and cannot cover the full band of a control that regulates below that.
LS1 — safety limiters (manual reset)
These are fixed-trip safety devices with positive safety on capillary breakage: they do nothing until the control fails, then cut the circuit and stay open until a technician resets them by hand. On the V.Crown side the trip point is factory-set to the original’s value, so the number you send us is the trip point we build.

| Original part | Original specification | V.Crown equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| IMIT LS1 541510 | Safety limiter · manual reset · trip 90–110°C · 1-pole · 16(6)A/250V~ · bulb Ø6.5×95mm · capillary 1000mm | AG16-S (trip point to order) |
| IMIT LS1 INAIL 541550 | Safety limiter · manual reset · trip 100°C · 1-pole · 16(6)A/250V~ · capillary 1000mm | AG16-S (trip point to order) |
| IMIT LS1 INAIL 541563 | Safety limiter · manual reset · trip 100°C · 1-pole · 16(6)A/250V~ · capillary 1500mm PVC | AG16-S (trip point to order) |
The AG16-S manual-reset safety limiter covers these single-pole types — 16A/20A at 110V/250V, manual reset, standard trip points 380/400/430°C with other trip points factory-set to order. LS1 trip points sit far below those standards, so the trip point is always set to the original’s value on these orders.
LS3 and 541048 — safety limiters (automatic reset)
These are fixed-trip safety devices that re-close on their own as the equipment cools. The LS3 pair switches a millivolt circuit, so the equivalence below is functional — the same automatic-reset safety behaviour — rather than an identical electrical rating; confirm the switching circuit before ordering. The 541048 is a 55°C dishwasher limiter, and its trip point is set to order like the others.

| Original part | Original specification | V.Crown equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| IMIT LS3 541750 | Safety limiter · automatic reset · trip 100°C · 1-pole · millivolt circuit 100mV/0.3A DC · bulb Ø6.5×95mm · capillary 1000mm | VL-Z (trip point to order) |
| IMIT LS3 541752 | Safety limiter · automatic reset · trip 100°C · 1-pole · millivolt circuit 100mV/0.3A DC · bulb Ø6.5×95mm · capillary 1000mm | VL-Z (trip point to order) |
| IMIT 541048 | Safety limiter · automatic reset · trip 55°C · 1-pole · 15A/250V · capillary 610mm insulated · dishwasher duty | VL-Z (trip point to order) |
The VL-Z automatic-reset safety limiter covers the automatic-reset types — fixed trip factory-set to the original’s value, SPDT contact, UL covered under file E491946. Never substitute a manual-reset limiter for an automatic-reset one to make a cross-reference fit.
Outside the scope of these tables
No verified two- or three-pole IMIT capillary control exists in public sources — the TRZ is a two-stage single-pole control, not a multi-pole switch — and no IMIT millivolt gas control thermostat exists either, so the AG32 and ARB-33 families have no IMIT counterpart in these tables. TR2 variants that regulate below 50°C (0–90°C, 0–120°C, 0–195°C codes) are not listed, for the reason given above. The IMIT 541839 safety thermostat (140°C) is not mapped: no public source states whether it resets manually or automatically. IMIT’s electronic controls (the Orion range), rod and plug-in thermostats, and capillary thermometers and manometers are measuring or electronic devices, not capillary controls, and are outside these tables. Send us the number and we confirm the match in writing; a part outside these tables is not a failed match, it is an unconfirmed one.
IMIT® is a trademark of IMIT Control System Srl. Verify the equivalent against the original specification before installation.
The five checks before you order
- Function and reset type — a control is adjustable and cycles; a limiter is fixed-trip and, in the LS1 family, manual reset, while LS3 and the 541048 reset automatically. Manual and automatic reset are different safety behaviours, not options.
- Range or trip point — the original’s range must sit inside the equivalent’s range (AG16-K 50–400°C). TR2 variants below 50°C do not map. For limiters the trip point is factory-set to the original’s value — a near-enough temperature is not a match.
- Poles and current — every IMIT part in these tables is single-pole, 16A class. The TRZ is two-stage, not two-pole — it still switches one circuit. A single-pole replacement cannot switch a multi-pole load.
- Capillary length and probe — TR2 capillaries are 1000mm as standard and the TR3 part is 1030mm insulated; LS1 capillaries are 1000mm or 1500mm PVC. Read the length and probe size from the rating label. Too short will not reach the well; the probe must seat correctly in the existing thermowell.
- Mounting and head temperature — the TR2 and LS heads are rated to 85°C and the capillary’s minimum bend radius is 5mm. The replacement must fit the same bracket and panel cut-out, take the same knob, and its head must sit within its temperature rating in the mounting position.
Send us the part number you are replacing — or a photo of its rating label — and we run all five checks in writing before quoting, so the equivalent arrives as a fit, not a project.
Certification: ask for numbers, then verify them
The AG16-S is TÜV certified and the VL-Z is covered by UL file E491946, both listed on our certifications page; the AG16-K’s approvals are confirmed for the exact model before ordering. When an alternative supplier quotes a safety device, ask for the file number — not a logo — and check it before the part goes into certified equipment.
Samples and trial orders
Free samples of the AG16-K and the AG16-S are available for bench testing — you only cover the courier, and the freight is credited against your first order. Trial orders start from 200 pcs, with models mixed in one shipment, and mechanical customization (range, trip point, capillary length, bulb, dial printing) is developed free of charge. Send us the IMIT number you currently buy and we will map it.
