Thermowatt S.p.A. of Arcevia, Italy, has made heating elements and thermostats since the early 1950s, and its capillary range sits in ovens, water heaters and household appliances around the world. This page maps the series our customers send us most often to their verified V.Crown equivalents, and sets out the checks that make a cross-reference safe. One difference from the other pages in this series: Thermowatt publishes no individual part numbers — every series is built to the customer’s specification — so the tables below are series-level. Match the function, the range and the trip point, and the V.Crown equivalent is built to the original’s dimensions.

How to read the original part number
Thermowatt capillary thermostats carry a series code — TCOD, TB, SPC, TBST or TBSB — not an individual part number. The range, capillary length and bulb are factory-set to the customer’s specification, so read them from the rating label or the order specification rather than assuming them from the series. TCOD is the oven-control family; TB / TBR is the water-heater control family; SPC is a limiter only, and TBST / TBSB combine a control with a bipolar manual-reset limiter in one unit.
TCOD and TB / TBR — single-pole control thermostats
Adjustable liquid-filled capillary controls, 16–20A class, for ovens and water heaters. Every variant ordered from 50°C up sits inside the AG16-K envelope, so the mapping is by function and range, with the capillary and bulb made to the original’s dimensions.

| Original part | Original specification | V.Crown equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Thermowatt TCOD | Control · oven duty · adjustable 30–350°C factory-set · 1-pole · 16A/250V · stainless capillary 860/930mm · bulb Ø3/4×100/140mm · OFF position | AG16-K |
| Thermowatt TB / TBR | Control · water-heater duty · up to 110°C factory-set · 1-pole (SPDT available) · 20A/250V or 15A/400V · copper capillary 600/1300mm · bulb Ø6×100mm | AG16-K |
The AG16-K covers the 50–400°C band at 16A/20A — see the AG16-K capillary control thermostat for the full specification, including capillary and bulb made to order.
SPC, TBST and TBSB — bipolar manual-reset safety limiters
Thermowatt’s capillary safeties are all bipolar manual-reset cut-outs — there is no single-pole manual-reset limiter in the range, so the AG16-S has no Thermowatt counterpart. SPC is a limiter only, with no control function. TBST and TBSB combine a control with a bipolar limiter in one unit; only the limiter side is mapped here, because the control side (10–90°C) sits below the AG16-K floor and no single V.Crown model replaces the whole combined unit.

| Original part | Original specification | V.Crown equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Thermowatt SPC-M / SPC-F | Manual-reset limiter only · trip 50–115°C factory-set · 2-pole · SPC-M 16A/250V, SPC-F 20A/250V · copper capillary 500/650/900/1200mm · bulb Ø6×55mm | AG32-2S |
| Thermowatt TBST — safety function only | Combined control + manual-reset limiter · trip 50–120°C factory-set · 2-pole (bimetal-disc safety) · 16A/250V or 10A/400V · copper capillary 400/550/800mm · control bulb Ø6/9×40/100mm | AG32-2S |
| Thermowatt TBSB — safety function only | Combined control + manual-reset limiter · trip 50–120°C factory-set · 2-pole (bulb safety, positive safety) · 20A/240V, 16A/250V or 10A/400V · copper capillary 400/550/800mm · control bulb Ø6×100mm, safety bulb Ø6×55mm | AG32-2S |
The AG32-2S is a two-pole manual-reset limiter with the trip point set to the original’s value — see our safety-limit thermostat range for the full specification.
Outside the scope of these tables
Thermowatt’s rod (stem) thermostats RTM and RTS / RTS PLUS are not capillary thermostats and are not mapped here — the RTS bipolar safety is a bimetal disc on a stem, a different sensing technology. The TMEC electronic smart thermostats are electronic, not capillary. No three-pole Thermowatt capillary control exists, and no Thermowatt auto-reset limiter, millivolt gas control or capillary thermometer exists in public sources, so the AG32-3K, VL-Z, ARB-33 and AGT families have no Thermowatt counterpart in these tables. TB / TBR and TCOD variants ordered below 50°C, and the TBST / TBSB control side (10–90°C), are outside the AG16-K envelope and are not listed.
Thermowatt® is a trademark of Thermowatt S.p.A. HengTherm parts are replacement equivalents manufactured by Guangzhou V.Crown Thermostat Co., Ltd.; we are not affiliated with Thermowatt, and part numbers are used for cross-reference identification only. Verify the equivalent against the original specification before installation.
The five checks before you order
- Function and reset type — a control is adjustable and cycles; a limiter trips at a fixed point and, in the Thermowatt capillary range, always resets manually and always breaks two poles. A combined TBST / TBSB unit is two devices in one housing — the control side and the limiter side must be checked separately.
- Range or trip point — the original’s range must sit inside the equivalent’s range (AG16-K 50–400°C; AG32-2S trip to 400°C). Thermowatt series are factory-set, so quote the ordered range or trip point from the rating label, not the series envelope: a 30–90°C water-heater variant does not correspond to the AG16-K.
- Poles and current — Thermowatt capillary controls are single-pole, 16–20A class; Thermowatt capillary safeties are bipolar, 16–20A. A single-pole replacement cannot break a two-pole safety circuit.
- Capillary length and bulb — TCOD capillary is 860/930mm stainless steel, bulb Ø3/4×100/140mm; TB/TBR capillary is 600/1300mm copper, bulb Ø6×100mm; SPC/TBST/TBSB capillaries are 400–1200mm copper. Check the label for the ordered lengths and bulb size — too short a capillary cannot reach the sensing pocket, and the bulb must fit the existing pocket.
- Mounting and head temperature — TCOD has an external knob and an OFF position, with a maximum ambient of 150°C; TB/TBR is available with an external knob (TBR). The replacement must fit the same bracket and panel cut-out, take the same knob, and its head must stay within its temperature rating at the mounting position.
Send us the part number you are replacing — or a photo of its rating label — and we run all five checks in writing before quoting, so the equivalent arrives as a fit, not a project.
Certification: ask for numbers, then verify them
The AG32-2S belongs to the TÜV-certified AG32-S family, listed on our certifications page; the AG16-K’s approvals are confirmed for the exact model before ordering. When an alternative supplier quotes a safety device, ask for the file number — not a logo — and check it before the part goes into certified equipment.
Samples and trial orders
Free samples of the AG16-K and the AG32-2S are available for bench testing — you only cover the courier, and the freight is credited against your first order. Trial orders start from 200 pcs, with models mixed in one shipment, and mechanical customization (range, trip point, capillary length, bulb, dial printing) is developed free of charge. Send us the Thermowatt series you currently buy and we will map it.
